ZION’S GAAT (KIDS) AFRICAN MISSION
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
The word “Gaat” in our name means children.
We have organized a Task Force and are working to support the work of our fellow member, Pastor Jenina Gatnoor. Originally, he dealt with the people of South Sudan (his home area) on his own, but his people are now in Gambella, Ethiopia as refugees and displaced persons, because of the conditions in South Sudan.
We are in the process of purchasing land in Gambella. We are partnering with Orphan Grain Train (OGT) out of Norfolk, NE. They serve people in all over the world and will send 2 forty-foot containers a year to our site, filled with supplies.
Pastor Gatnoor’s mission started when he was a small child. He has such great love for the people over there and especially the children. After everything is set up on the property, we plan to have a well dug, so that the people can have good water. When the first container arrives from the Orphan Grain Train it will be left on the site to be used as a Mission Center. We also plan to hire a “Gate Keeper,” who will be on the site at all times for security reasons.
On June 25th Pastor Gatnoor and Judy and Ken Schmuck drove to Farmington, MN to meet with President H.W. Ato Gatluak Tut Khot, who was in Minnesota for a medical check-up in Rochester. They spent time talking about Zion’s African Mission. This included showing him our logo, pictures of Pastor’s last trip to Gambella, all the signed papers we have for our project, our plans for our property in Gambella plus our intentions with the container from the Orphan Grain Train. He was so pleased with our plans and will help us in whatever way he can to speed up the process.
We feel truly blessed to be able to give to our Lord through His Mission in Africa. If you would like to gift the “Gaat (Kids) Zion Mission in Africa you can contact Judith Schmuck in Sioux Falls. My phone number is 605-359-4866 and my email is Judith3180@hotmail.com.
